PORT AND WATER CHANNELS CONSTRUCTION
ACCIONA has designed and constructed more than 50 ports worldwide, constituting an essential infrastructure for international trade in goods and passengers. The company promotes the adaptation of these facilities to the era of low-carbon activities, creating truly transformational and sustainable infrastructures to improve people's lives.
To achieve this, ACCIONA uses one of its biggest port engineering assets, through which it has established its reputation as a world reference in port projects: framed deck technology.
El KUGIRA: FLOATING CAISSON DOCK FOR LARGE HARBOUR WORKS
The Kugira floating dock, the largest in Europe and one of the largest of its kind in the world, produces caissons that are 70 m long, 36 m wide and 35 m high in just 10 days. It is capable of building docks and 200-metre quays in as little as a month.
Kugira is one of the structures best adapted to the reality of the main challenges facing our planet, which push us to seek more efficient solutions for the future. It saves up to 50% of raw material resources in construction processes and contributes to reducing pollution, acoustic impact and accidents in the context of port construction.

Composite materials, the best allies for port projects
In this line of innovation, ACCIONA has designed cylindrical composite caissons to minimise the environmental impact of port projects. A material better adapted to the corrosive conditions of the marine environment and integral to an environmentally friendly production process, it prevents 75% of CO₂ emissions compared to existing floating caisson construction techniques. In total, the company manages to reduce emissions of CO₂ by up to four times the emissions of a conventional port construction site.
