52 HYDROELECTRIC POWER PLANTS

We produce 693 MW in our own plants located in various river basins throughout Spain

HYDROPOWER ENERGY

Hydroelectric energy was one of our very first steps in the energy sector and provided us with solid experience in this renewable technology, both in evaluating the resource and in the design, construction, operation and management of facilities.

We currently own 52 hydroelectric power plants located in different river basins throughout Spain, with a combined capacity of 693 MW (same consolidated figure).

More information about our hydroelectric power activity is available on the ACCIONA Energía website.

Our capacity in river basins in Spain totals 693 MW with operating assets over 100 years old".

EXPERIENCE

A century making electricity from water

In many respects, it is a living museum. The beauty of its architecture, and the antiquated machinery sparkling within its halls, are a delight to behold. But a century after construction, Seira hydroelectric power station is still generating clean energy.

THE IMPORTANCE OF RENEWABLE ENERGIES

Renewable energies are clean, inexhaustible and competitive sources of energy. The development and adoption of clean energy is essential to limit the worst effects of the climate emergency and to build a sustainable energy system.

The challenge of storing renewable energy

The hydroelectric pumping station at Ip, built and operated by ACCIONA, stores clean energy in order to free it when needed through a high-pressure gallery and pipework with a head of over 900 meters
